How NDIS speech pathology works
Speech pathology is commonly funded under Capacity Building — Improved Daily Living in a child's NDIS plan. How you engage a provider depends on how your plan is managed:
- Self-managed: you pay invoices and claim them back, with full choice of provider.
- Plan-managed: your plan manager pays our invoices on your behalf — simple and flexible.
- Agency-managed (NDIA): Lumina is a registered NDIS provider, so the agency can pay us directly — no self-managed paperwork required.
Support that fits your child's plan goals
We write clear, functional, NDIS-ready goals in plain language, and deliver therapy in the everyday settings where your child communicates — home, kinder and school. We provide the progress reports and documentation you need for plan reviews, and we collaborate with your other providers so your child's team pulls in the same direction.
The early childhood approach
The NDIS early childhood approach offers a gentler entry point — children younger than 6 with developmental delay don't need a formal diagnosis to get started, and children younger than 9 with disability are also supported through this pathway. We can help you understand which applies and what to expect.

Do you work with self-managed and plan-managed NDIS plans?
Yes — we support self-managed, plan-managed and agency-managed plans, and we can guide you on how invoicing works for each.
Can my child use NDIS funding for speech therapy at home or school?
Yes. As a mobile practice, we deliver NDIS-funded therapy in the everyday settings where your child communicates — home, childcare, kinder and school — which is where skills transfer best.
Will my child move to Thriving Kids?
From 2026–2028, children aged 8 and under with developmental delay or autism and lower-to-moderate support needs will be supported through Thriving Kids rather than the NDIS. Children with high support needs remain on the NDIS. See our Thriving Kids guide for the latest.

Yes. We provide clear assessment summaries and progress reports written to support your plan reviews and funding requests.
